Ateshooni

experience Garmeh

about ateshooni

Ateshooni guesthouse is an old house renovated in it’s ancient style.

17 years ago by Maziar Aledavood,  the owner which is originally from Garmeh village and came back here after years living in Tehran and teaching pottery.

Ateshooni  in the  ancient dialect of the region means nocturnal gathering around  fire.

The aim of Ateshooni  is to let you live the life in an Iranian desert  village  for few days, everything is very basic and simple but we hope that the experience will be unique.

Felling like at home, it’s also a place to meet other travelers and relax in touch with nature.

Don’t expect a 5 stars hotel, but many stars in the desert sky!

Ateshooni's guest testimonials

  • “A unique experience!”              I am an architect whose interest is phenomenology, so my observations about Ateshooni goes beyond just a tourist. I think Maziar is an artist who has combined his knowledge of Persian culture, and his understanding of nature to give his guests a unique experience. The experience which includes all of senses. You, as a guest, can see, smell, taste, and here a culture. Here is where you can experience a "sense of place!" Stayed December 2016, traveled as a couple.

  • “Tea Time in Desert's Home”              At beginning of June, after short email I was greeted with a welcome at Ateshooni guesthouse. Wanted just a lunch, glass of tea and a little rest during early afternoon on my trip through desert. House is located in the middle of the village (33.526835, 55.038951) and parking is secured by two camels. First you lose yourself through the house corridors and travel in time of almost 300 years old beauty. In the short moment after eyes adapt to interiour light, you realize this place could be your home. Call it a hotel, guesthouse,... but this is rare place in desert with clean facilities, charming interior, wonderful domestic food and friendly atmosphere and people at one place. Enjoy here your thoughts in quietness or exchange them in interesting conversation with Mr.Maziyar. Don't forget to close your eyes when you taste their homemade cold sheep's milk yoghurt. You can hear ancient caravans are passing by. Stayed July 2016, traveled solo.

  • “Silence of Iran's desert”              You can expect to experience a life in some of the most remote places in Iran. Deserts in Iran unlike other deserts around the world has a life line due to its surrounding high mountains that is covered by snow during the winter and feeds the gorgeous plains that makes out the lively deserts. Visiting the interesting sites were village walking. The Mesr deserts at the sunset and gathering around the fire with chai zooghali (charcoal) and listening to live performance of traditional music. The spring is as relaxing as it gets with small fish nibbling on your toes. Dinner is at a very nice restaurant with the greatest hosts and more live music. It's is a very unique experience that is hard to find. Stayed January 2016, traveled as a couple.

  • “Perfect place”              We arrived randomly and got a nice room. The food was delicious. Abbas noticed that we needed to change the tyre of our car just before we left and immediately did this for us with a friend. The environment is perfect, just sit on the streets, watch what's going on in the village, or climb up on the old mosque for a nice view. The desert breeze in the evening is amazing. Stayed August 2016, traveled with friends.
